Steubenville Historic Downtown Revitalization

The HEART of Appalachian Ohio Project will assist the City of Steubenville with a downtown revitalization effort that will transform the Historic District by redoing a complete streetscape within the business district.

The streetscape will extend on Historic Fourth Street from Adams Street to North Street and along Market Street from Third Street to Sixth Street. Furthermore, the streetscape will extend up the North Street corridor to the railroad tracks and connect the Urban Mission

Big Green and Warehouse properties.

This grand undertaking will also build dedicated and protected bike routes through the streetscape that will serve as the main artery of the Great American Rail Trail that extends from Washington DC to Washington State.

This endeavor, utilizing the Appalachian Community Grant, will see the downtown completely transformed and bring monumental change to the area.

The Heart of Appalachian Ohio project’s signature Three-Dimensional Murals will dot the streetscape and help bring the history and people of the city and Appalachian Ohio to life.
